Know the Risks. Prepare with Confidence.
-
Waypoint provides medical readiness planning for individuals, small groups, and organizations preparing for remote, high-altitude, wilderness, or medically limited environments. Services may include medical screening, primary care discussion guidance, environmental health considerations, medical packing plans, group risk assessment, and condition-specific medical response guidance.
-
No. Waypoint does not provide blanket medical clearance for participation. We identify relevant medical risks, readiness concerns, and issues that may warrant further evaluation by your primary care or treating clinician before departure.
-
Medication prescribing is not part of the standard readiness packages. When appropriate, we identify medication topics to discuss with your treating clinician, including routine medication supply, prophylactic medications, rescue medications, vaccinations, and other preventive measures.
-
You may receive a recommendation to discuss the issue with your PCP, PCM, specialist, or other treating clinician before departure. For group services, this recommendation is communicated privately to the participant rather than disclosed to the group unless the participant authorizes sharing.
-
Individual screening information is reviewed confidentially. Shared group materials use aggregate, non-identifying medical readiness information and do not list participant diagnoses, medications, or other identifiable medical information without authorization.
-
Medical response guides focus on recognizing foreseeable medical problems, immediate first-response considerations, reassessment, red flags, activity-stop criteria, and thresholds for seeking professional medical care or activating established emergency procedures.
-
Detailed route-specific evacuation planning, rescue coordination, SAR planning, receiving-facility research, and extraction logistics are not included in the standard medical readiness packages. These services may be available separately when specifically contracted.
-
Small Group Medical Planning is designed for teams of 2–4 and includes individualized screening and primary care discussion guidance for each participant, plus shared group planning.
Organizational & Large Group Planning is designed for groups of 5–8 or larger and uses confidential participant screening to inform an aggregate group risk assessment, large-group packing plan, staff medical response guide, and staff briefing. Additional participants may be added separately.
-
For individual clients, several weeks before departure is usually appropriate. Groups should start earlier so there is enough time to collect participant screening forms, address PCP follow-up recommendations, and finalize medical planning before departure.
-
Yes. Medical readiness planning may address domestic or international destinations. However; clinical consultation services are available only when the participant is physically located in Colorado at the time of the virtual clinical encounter. Your planned trip itself may be anywhere.
